JAKARTA, 2025 - The accelerating evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has profoundly transformed the way societies function, reshaping economic structures, professional practices, and patterns of human interaction. While AI offers remarkable opportunities for innovation and efficiency, it simultaneously introduces complex ethical, legal, and social challenges. These critical dimensions were explored in depth during the Bincang Online Inspiratif (BIONS) Series 287, a virtual forum held on 20 December 2025, which featured Prof. Dr. Capt. He encouraged Indonesia to adopt a similarly proactive approach by developing regulatory instruments that are both forward-looking and context-sensitive. Such measures, he argued, would position the nation not merely as a consumer of AI technologies, but as an active participant in shaping their ethical and legal standards.


Another significant theme of the discussion was social resilience. Prof. Eddy acknowledged that the widespread integration of AI could disrupt labor markets, alter professional identities, and intensify psychological pressures associated with rapid change. These disruptions, if left unaddressed, may generate uncertainty and social tension.


However, he emphasized that disruption should not automatically be perceived as a threat. When managed effectively, AI-driven transformation can enhance productivity, improve quality of life, and create new opportunities. Social resilience, in this context, refers to the capacity of individuals and communities to adapt constructively to technological change while maintaining social stability and inclusivity.

Education emerged as a central strategy for strengthening social resilience. Prof. Eddy advocated for educational systems that extend beyond technical skill acquisition to include ethical reasoning, digital literacy, and character formation. Such an approach, he explained, would empower future generations to engage critically with technology and to understand its broader societal implications.
